California:
SB 630 - Proposes that the CA Film and Television Tax Credit Program be expanded to include:
For taxable years beginning on or after January 1, 2025, ..., a large-scale competition show, not including traditional reality, game shows, talk shows, or documentary television programming, that is produced in California, with a minimum production budget of one million dollars ($1,000,000).
New York:
S04305 - Proposes inclusion of documentary films in the empire state film production tax credit. Would be retroactive to 2023!
Minimum budget of $1M for films shot in Westchester, Rockland, Nassau, Suffolk county or the 5 NYC boroughs.
Minimum budget of $250,000 shot in any other NY county.
