Federal Tax Incentive for ProductionAs you have likely heard, a bill has been introduced in both the Senate and Congress for federal legislation to institute a federal tax credit for film and TV production in the US. NPACT, with the significant help of NPACT member Shawn Moffatt of Media Content Services/MY Entertainment, has been involved in conversations with congressmembers, the MPA, FilmUSA and others to ensure that unscripted production's interests are represented.
The Motion Picture, Television, and Entertainment Revitalization Act includes scripted and unscripted productions, and proposes: |
20% incentive on all labor, both ATL and BTL, with bonuses to increase total incentive to 30% based on specific criteria:
Floor of $1 million per project. Will not include news, talk, or live sports.
This incentive program will be stackable with state incentives.
HOW YOU CAN HELP
It's important that every Senator and Representative knows their constituents overwhelmingly support this legislation, and that it's about providing employment to tens of thousands of Americans – within production, within the businesses ancillary to production, and in the local communities that benefit when productions shoot locally.
FilmUSA has made it very easy to write your representatives in both branches.
Follow the instructions below – all you do is enter the requested info (name, email, street address, etc.) and they'll automatically send an email to the correct Senator and Representative based on your street address.
